Did I mention that Jonas is into EVERYTHING these days?!? Â

Uncle Kerry Visiting…
Jonas’ Uncle Kerry is visiting with us for a few weeks from Taiwan. Â Yay!!! Â He hung out with us last night and watched the Super Bowl. Â Here is a post dinner (a new recipe I tried that, in all honesty, kind of bombed) and a pre dessert (super yummo Cinnabons that Kerry brought) picture of us chilling out on the couch. Â Petra totally adopted Kerry and was snuggled up next to him most of the time. Â And Jonas, bless his heart, had had a rough day (complete with a kitchen fall that resulted in a bruised forehead earlier in the afternoon and a living room trip that ended with a bloody lip just a few minutes before this picture was taken) and was ready for bed (hence the paci). Â All in all, it was a fun and relaxing time of family togetherness that we look forward to more of…more pictures to come…
Fifteen Months…
At fifteen months, Jonas is: Â picking up new words and signs so fast that it’s hard to keep up with them all (his newest words include: Â “cor” for “corn”, “nah” for “snack”, “bah” for “(cereal) bar”, “popsih” for “popsicle”, “meh” for “milk”, “cuh” for “cup”, “nahnah” for “no no”, “ba” for “bath”, “duh” for “duck”, “boo” for “book” and “boot”, “outsih” for “outside”, “cahcah” for “car”, “opposih” for “opposites”, “Bibuh” for “Bible”, and “pay” for “pray” and his newest signs include: Â baby, dad, and car); saying “yeahyeah” when he gets excited about something; putting together several two-word combinations (“dat paci” for “that paci”, “bown beh” for “brown bear” (one of his favorite books), “peekaboo DaDa” for “peek-a-boo DaDa”, “DaDa cahcah” for “DaDa car”, “MaMa ohme” for “MaMa oatmeal”, and “MaMa nana” for “MaMa banana”;Â getting REALLY excited about knocking over block towers and playing rousing games of hide and seek with DaDa; learning how to help clean up (helping put his blocks and books and toys in their bins) to the “clean up” song; starting to run and walk backwards; getting really good at climbing the stairs and learning how to go down the stairs; figuring out how to flush the toilet and pull the toilet paper off of the roll; experimenting with crayon scribbling (he mostly just likes to eat them and hold them); having a blast exploring outside; asking for his favorite songs (“B-I-N-G-O” and “Clap Your Hands”) in the car by doing the sign for “more” at the end of each song (over and over again); bringing books to us that he wants to read; FINALLY taking to whole milk and drinking 12 ounces a day; cutting one tooth (at the top) and working on a few more (at the bottom); identifying body parts (head, hair, nose, feet, belly, and toes); and telling how old he is…if you say, “Jonas, how old are you?” he holds up one finger.Â
A Budding Sense of Humor…
Jonas is really quite the funny man with a great sense of comedic timing. Â So, I thought I would share a few things with you that he has said and done lately that have just cracked us up:
In church one Sunday, when the young man who read the scripture left the altar to return to his seat, all was quiet on the congregational front and Jonas said, “ByeBye”.
At dinner the other night, I was telling Tom about an elderly gentleman who Jonas and I had seen in the church lobby during mass, who noticed me basically running around after Jonas and said over his shoulder on his way out the door, “I know who’s in charge”. Â Tom thought about that for a minute and then decided to go to the source, who just so happened to be sitting in his high chair at the dinner table. Â Tom said, “Jonas, who’s in charge?” Jonas said emphatically, “DaDa”. Â Then, Tom said, “Who’s second?” Â Jonas pointed to me with a wry smile and said, “MaMa”. Â Finally, Tom said, “Who’s third?” Â And Jonas clapped (which is something he does when he’s proud of himself) and smiled. Â
Several mornings ago, when I was getting Jonas dressed, he thought I was finished before I was, straightened up tall, and hit my chin pretty solidly with his head. Â To lighten the blow for both of us, I said, “Conk”. Â He thought that was funny, and we had a good laugh together. Â A few days later, he tripped and hit his head while he was playing. Â He immediately put his hand on his head where it hurt, looked at me, and said, “Conk”.
What a Wonderful World…
This was one of those moments where I wished I was half the photographer my older brother, Kerry, is so that I could capture the magic of what I saw. Â Here is my feeble attempt…
Baby Seyfried Update…
So far we have had two prenatal appointments (at 11 weeks and at 17 weeks) with our midwife and have gotten to hear the sweet, reassuring sound of our baby’s heartbeat both times. Â At our most recent appointment, our midwife laughed because the baby was moving around so much she was practically chasing him/her around with the doppler. Â 🙂 Â Today, we went for the ultrasound (at 18 weeks) and got to see our dear baby…what a miraculous blessing. Â Be safe, dear baby, be well…as we look forward to seeing you again very soon…
