Mommy (upon losing her keys from the house to the car): “Where is Mommy’s brain sometimes?”
Jonas: “Hiding with your keys?”
Xander (to Mommy who was staring off into space while playing Uno): “What are you looking at?”
Mommy: “Nothing.”
Xander: “Nothing is something. You’re looking at molecules.”
Roman (wondering about gummy vitamins): “Do these have Vitamin C in them?”
Mommy: “Yes.”
Roman: “So, I have the power to fight germs.”
Roman and I went to story time at the downtown library today, and it’s just the absolute best!!! We love Professor, Mary Mary, J.J. the Lamb, Cedric the Dragon, and the Spanish Fox. I still remember the first time I took Jonas when he was six months old. 🙂
They’ve recently renovated the children’s library…adding a climbing wall, tables with trains and tinker toys and widgets, a puppet theater that looks like the Ryman Auditorium, iPads and an iBoard, and a play structure that gives a nod to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. It is awesome!!!

Tom went on his 7th annual mancation with his best friend, Jim. This year, they went to Houston, TX where they got to stay with and visit Tom’s Aunt Ruth and Uncle Rod while getting in three days of golf!!!
We had another snow day today and were thankful to be able to make it out of the house for a trip to Goofballs. The boys enjoyed playing games, jumping on the inflatable, driving bumper cars, shooting each other with air guns/foam balls, and trading in their tickets for little treats.
It snowed last night and most of the day today. We got bundled up and hung out in it this morning and then made some snow cream…yummy!
Snow Cream Recipe:
8 cups of freshly fallen snow
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Mix and serve.
Roman and I had fun at the Discovery Center this morning where we met up with some moms and kids from our wonderful moms’ group.
Daddy helped us build a huge snowman in our backyard, affectionately dubbed “The Beast” by Xander.
We’ve had a marathon of snow and snow days here…lots of hanging out and sledding.
Jonas was pretty excited to find out that he was sharing his name with a winter storm…Winter Storm Jonas.
We had our first snow day today!!! Tom even stayed home…we played in the snow, drank hot chocolate, switched up Xander and Roman’s rooms, and played loads of board games and cards.
The boys were SUPER excited to go rock climbing with Daddy on Martin Luther King Day…
I love volunteering for Xander’s AMAZING kindergarten teacher, Ms. Chase, every other Thursday and eating lunch with the boys.
It’s time for another installment of “What Did I Just Say?”…
“We are going to have to have jingle bell time out when we get home.”
“Let’s not put the carabiner in your mouth, honey.”
“We are not riding scooters on the mattress.”
I love to see Jonas and Xander reading to Roman…it melts my heart.
The boys and I celebrated the last day of winter break with Aunt Heather and Cousins Val and Annabella!  The kids had fun bowling and eating lunch and playing at Chick-Fil-A, and Heather and I had fun catching up in the midst of it all.
We loved our visit with Grandma and Grandpa over New Year’s weekend. We got a lot of relaxing hang time in…playing games and catching up. What a blessing to just do life together.
The boys and I enjoyed a showing of the Polar Express at the library this afternoon! They came dressed in their pajamas ready to cozy up with pillows, stuffed animal friends, and blankets. The librarian passed out tickets (for prize drawings at the end) and refreshments (popcorn, lollipops, and bottled water). It was the perfect way to kick off Winter Break.

MeMe and PaPa took the boys and I on a magical ride to the North Pole aboard the North Pole Limited this afternoon!!! We drove to Chattanooga, ate lunch outside the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, watched the model train go ’round and ’round, heard the “All aboard!”, and were on our way. We got our tickets punched, heard a story, shared a milk and cookies snack, sang Christmas carols, met Santa and Mrs. Claus, and jingled our bells. We are so grateful to have had this fun Christmas adventure with MeMe and PaPa!!!
The sweetest thing was hearing what Xander said when Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas, “Whatever you want to give me.” May we all have such a heart this Christmas and always.
Jonas, along with all of the first graders, sang the sweetest holiday songs at school tonight. Afterwards, we stopped into the library for Storytime with Mrs. Claus.
