We spent Thanksgiving in Virginia with Grandma and Grandpa, The Seyfrieds, The Longs, and The Paccassis. We enjoyed just hanging out with everyone…family is such a blessing!!!

Jonas and Xander enjoyed Family Math Night at school…trying their hands at multiplication buildings, math races, cup towers, block charts, geometric marshmallow and toothpick creations, and more.
Xander had his Thanksgiving Program tonight at school, and it was so much fun to watch him!!! He sang and danced his little heart out, and it made me so happy to see him light up like that. Go, Xan-Man!
Roman played his last soccer game of the season this morning. His coach, Mr. Matt, who he LOVES…affectionately nicknamed him “The Stopper”. Here he is after the game, receiving his trophy and a congratulatory hug from Xander, and proudly holding his trophy next to Coach Matt, chocolate donut-faced and all.
Roman and I checked out ArtQuest (an interactive art exhibit for kids) this morning at The Frist. Admission is FREE every Monday in November and December with a canned good donation to The Second Harvest Food Bank. Roman’s favorites this time around were the kaleidoscope drawing and the movie making.
We had a fairly laid back Halloween. We went to a fun neighborhood potluck, trick or treated around the loop, passed out candy, and watched a Halloween episode of Paw Patrol before tucking in for the night. Here are a few pictures, featuring: AhAh as Curious George, Roman as a Dinosaur, Jonas as Pikachu, Xander as a Dolphin, Jodi as Katniss, and Tom as a HazMat worker.
I loved going on the kindergarten field trip to Walden Pumpkin Farm with Xander this morning!!! Â It was the perfect fall day, and everything was so well organized. Â Each class rotated through different stations: playing in the activity area, hearing about the life cycle of a pumpkin and picking out a pumpkin, going on a hayride, finding their way through the hay bale maze, and petting the farm animals. Â Afterwards, we all enjoyed a picnic lunch and headed out. Â It was good times!
Roman had Pumpkin Fest today at preschool, visiting all of the fun stations: snacks with story time, pumpkin painting and crafts, face painting, play-doh, and pumpkin games and exploration. Â I read books for story time and helped out with arts and crafts (building a jack-o-lantern, painting with foam pumpkins, and decorating treat bags).
Jonas has fallen in love with riding his bike…I’m so thankful he finally spent enough time with it to figure out that he could do it and enjoy it. We pretty much can’t keep him off it these days which is great fun to see.
He’s also really enjoying his rock climbing class. Â It’s so fascinating to watch him scale a wall…he’s so much like his daddy.
The boys and I stopped off at the playground this morning to enjoy some outdoor playtime and have a picnic lunch before heading to the dentist on Fall Break.
The boys and I joined Tom at the NVFD for an Open House this afternoon. It was awesome!!! Â I was just as excited as they were…what a cool event. Â They helped a firefighter put out a fire on the fire simulator, watched a team of firefighters do a vehicle extrication, and saw a life flight helicopter land and got to see it up close. Â It was so moving for me…I’m so grateful for all of our heroes, including my dear husband, Tom!!!
Jonas and Xander rocked it out at the Fun Run!!! Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored them. They loved seeing those pledges come in, were proud to raise money for technology for their school, and rejoiced over the incentives they received for every dollar pledged per lap (invisible pen, bungee rocket, and stealth flyer). They both ran 35 laps!!! It was beautiful…I get so emotional watching races like that anyway and then seeing both of my boys out there running their little hearts out filled my heart to overflowing. Go, Jonas and Xander!!!
I loved being able to help out with both of the boys’ fall classroom parties this afternoon. They had fun playing candy corn bingo, being wrapped up like mummies with toilet paper, and making monster crafts.
For the first time this fall, the boys are all doing different activities from each other. Jonas is loving his rock climbing class, Xander is getting into piano, and Roman is all about soccer. Â We’re enjoying watching them do their own thing and find what they’re passionate about.
Tom met up with his best friend, Jim, in Virginia this weekend for an outdoor adventure! Â They backpacked and hiked a little bit of the Appalachain Trail and camped out under the stars. What a perfect time of year for an adventure in the woods!
Roman and I worked in the garden this afternoon. Â He helped me: Â pull out the Zinnias that were on their way out (cutting some to put in a mason jar to enjoy indoors and saving the spent blooms to dry and replant next year); plant some cool weather vegetables…Broccoli, Kale, and Red Romaine Lettuce; and cut back and replant a clump of Black-Eyed Susans. He even found a worm friend that he put in a bug catcher with some dirt (it’s “sleeping” in his room at night on the dresser and spending the day hanging out in the garden. Yay for a beautiful fall day, digging in the dirt with Roman!
We joined some precious friends for a birthday party this weekend at Walden Farm. Â We went on a hayride, and the boys picked out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. The corn box and the hay bale maze were a big hit as well. It’s so fun to keep coming back here every year…it’s one of my favorite traditions. We’re looking forward to coming back and playing again before the season is over. Happy Fall, Y’all!
Jonas has been doing gymnastics for a while now…he has loved it but is ready to try something different. Â So, he’s going to start rock climbing classes in October!!! He’s super pumped about it and will hopefully be able to put all of that energy, determination, daring, and climbing skill to good use.
Friday is usually our pajama day, where we rest from all of the activity of the week, but we made an exception this week and headed out to Lucky Ladd to meet up with our moms’ group. Roman had gotten up at 500 am for some random reason, so we were both really tired. Â But we still had fun together looking at all of the pretty pumpkins, petting and feeding the goats, riding a pony, going down the slide, riding the train, and playing in the corn box. Â What a fun place!
